Vivin Labs Ltd
Vivin Labs Ltd is a data-services company focused on Digital Product Passports (DPPs) for the European Union market. We build and operate hosted platforms that help EU product manufacturers and importers meet their product-passport obligations in a reliable, standards-based and auditable manner.
We offer two products: DPPGet — a generic platform for Digital Product Passports (dppget.com), and DPPServe — a specialised service for EU Battery Passports acting in the regulated role of Main Service Provider (dppserve.com).
Our expertise: Data Services
Our core competence is the provision of dependable data services: the collection, validation, hosting, lifecycle management, and controlled sharing of regulated product data on behalf of our customers.
- Regulated data hosting: versioned storage, archiving and backup of passport data, with audit trails.
- Data validation: schema and business-rule checks before passports are published or registered.
- Identifiers and data carriers: product and passport identifiers, QR codes and resolution URLs.
- Lifecycle management: creation, publication, update, and end-of-life handling of passports.
- Access control: public reads where required, and controlled access for authorities and authorised third parties.
- Registry integration: preparation and filing of passport entries with the European Commission Registry on behalf of Economic Operators.
- Standards alignment: working to the applicable EU standards for DPP data exchange, identifiers, data carriers, storage, APIs and interoperability.
- EU hosting and GDPR-aligned processing: infrastructure and procedures suited to regulated EU data.
In short: manufacturers concentrate on their products; we take care of the passport data — its quality, availability, and compliance.

EU regulations for product passports
1. Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) — the general product passport
The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 (ESPR) creates the framework for Digital Product Passports across a wide range of product categories sold in the EU. The aim is to make sustainability, circularity and compliance information available electronically — typically via a data carrier (such as a QR code) attached to the product — to consumers, professional users, and authorities.
- Passports are required progressively, category by category, through delegated acts.
- Each passport identifies the product, its manufacturer/importer (Economic Operator), and prescribed product data.
- Passport data must be hosted, kept available, and be resolvable from the data carrier.
- Entries must be filed with the European Commission Registry.
DPPGet is our generic platform for exactly this: hosting and managing DPP data on behalf of manufacturers, in compliance with the ESPR framework. See dppget.com.
2. EU Battery Regulation — battery passports, mandatory from February 2027
The EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 goes further for one sector: batteries. From February 2027, batteries placed on the EU market above the applicable thresholds must carry a digital battery passport. Battery manufacturers and importers are now in a rush to get their battery passport data prepared and registered with the EC Registry.
- Battery passports carry battery-specific data: identity, capacity, materials, carbon footprint, due-diligence and end-of-life information, as prescribed.
- Each battery passport must be hosted, scannable via QR code, and registered with the EC Registry.
- Economic Operators may appoint a Main Service Provider — a regulated role — to perform hosting, backup and registry filing on their behalf.
DPPServe serves this market in the role of a Main Service Provider. Battery manufacturers and importers send us their battery data; we validate it, host the passport, issue the QR code, keep the backup, and file the registry entry. See dppserve.com.
| What | Rule | Status |
|---|---|---|
| General product passports | ESPR (EU) 2024/1781, phased in by product category | In force; categories added progressively |
| Battery passports | EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 | Mandatory from February 2027 — preparations under way now |
